Occidental Petroleum Corp Pays $2M+ to Settle False Claims Act Allegations

According to DoJ, Occidental Petroleum Corporation and related companies underpaid the federal government for royalties due to the extraction of natural gas on federal land.  Such underpayments amount to reverse false claims under the federal False Claims Act and subject the corporation to treble damages plus interest and penalties.  Occidental, an international oil and gas exploration and production company headquartered in Los Angeles, will pay the $2.05 million plus interest to resolve  the allegations.
