Eli Lilly fraudulently marketed Zyprexa to children and elderly, according to allegations by the State of Arkansas. Attorney General Dustin McDaniel says the company pushed Zyprexa to treat dementia, aggression, depression, and sleep disorders among adults when it was only approved to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorders. The drug reportedly caused diabetes in children because of weight gain while on the drug. Eli Lilly & Co. doesn’t admit wrongdoing but will pay a record $18.5 million to settle the allegations.
