Abdul Naushad and wife Wajiha Naushaud have agreed to repay $820,000 to settle allegations in a whistleblower complaint filed by former employees Annetta Schwader and Amanda Richards. According to DoJ and HHS, the Naushads are alleged to have falsely billed for use of their DRX-9000 machine by billing Medicare and TRICARE for spinal decompressions required to be supervised by a physical therapist when no physical therapist was employed at any of their six Missouri pain clinics. As part of the settlement, Dr. Naushad’s billing company, Ultimate Practice Solutions, and its owner Azeem Meo, will be banned from federal healthcare for five years.
