Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center may have fraudulently billed Medicare to receive inflated reimbursements from the federal health care program. As well as overbilling, the Hospital allegedly inflated its charges to receive “outlier payments” which are usually obtained by hospitals who treat patients associated with extremely high hospital costs. According to Tony West, “conduct like that alleged drives up the costs of health care for all of us.”
