United States Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama, George Beck, has begun to make good on his promise to vigorously fight healthcare-related fraud. On Tuesday, he announced that his office had secured sentences of Veronica Dale and Alchico Grant, “who jointly ran a stolen identity refund fraud ring that attempted to defraud the United States of millions of dollars over several years,” according to DoJ. The pair will spend 25 years in prison for their crimes, to which they pleaded guilty last fall. Additionally, the Court ordered them to each pay $2.8 million in restitution. “Our office remains dedicated to rooting out those evil wrongdoers who systematically steal taxpayers’ money,” said U.S. Attorney Beck.
