Fraudulent HIV/AIDS Infusion Clinic Scheme Results in Near $6M False Claims to Medicare

Medicare paid $2.7 million of $5.8 million in false claims for unnecessary infusion treatments at Tendercare Medical Center in Miami before the scam was discovered. Maria Volero Marrero, the owner of Tendercare, pleaded guilty to the healthcare fraud conspiracy and admitted to paying, Lawrence Edward Humes and Keith Earnest Humes kickbacks to convince Medicare beneficiaries to lend their Medicare numbers and signatures to advance the scheme.
