Genesys Pays United States $669,413 for Violation of the False Claims Act

The DoJ reports, Michigan health care provider, Genesys Health System, settled lawsuit alleging the health care provider violated the False Claims Act. Between the years of 2001-2007, Genesys billed Medicare for higher level of services than were actually given to patients in a network of medical facilities. The lawsuit was filed under the qui tam whistleblower provisions of the False Claims Act, which allows private citizens to sue for fraud on behalf of the government. The whistleblower received $133,882 in the settlement of this case.
