Golden Living Settles "Quality of Care" Nursing Home Allegations

Golden Gate National Senior Care, which operates skilled nursing facilities across the nation under the “Golden Living” brand, has agreed to pay $613,300.00 to settle gruesome allegations that the company failed to provide proper wound care to its nursing home patients.

The case was filed by whistleblower Dr. Joseph L. Micca, a medical director at the Atlanta, Georgia Golden Living Facility.   Dr. Micca’s complaint detailed deplorable conditions at the facility, with wounded patients suffering terrible neglect.  Georgia Attorney General Sam Olens said  “Golden Living fraudulently billed Medicaid for nursing services which were substandard and, tragically, resulted in harm to patients. The nursing home patients depended on Golden Living to provide them with quality wound care services to help them heal, but, instead, were mistreated. We will not stand for such egregious misconduct by a Medicaid provider.”

GGNSC was formerly known as Beverly Enterprises and, under that name in 2001, pled guilty to healthcare fraud and paid $175 million to settle billing fraud allegations.
