Memorial Medical Supply Manager Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Health Care Fraud

On January 14, 2010, Manual Deluna, plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit health care fraud. According to the DoJ, Deluna admitted that he illegally obtained protected Medicare beneficiary information including names, dates of birth, medical histories, and Medicare and Social Security numbers on individuals and home health agencies. This information was used to submit false Medicare claims and reimbursements for medical equipment. In most cases, Deluna admitted the patients never needed or ordered the equipment and the doctors never prescribed the equipment. Deluna submitted in excess of $4.3 million fraudulent Medicare claims.
