Obama Supports/Opposes Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2009

Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Rajesh De yesterday related to Congress President Obama’s eagerness to sign legislation “that ensures safe and effective channels for whistleblowers to report and correct wrongdoing without fear or retaliation” reports the Washington Post. However, De told Congress that the administration opposes some aspects of the proposed Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act, such as provisions which would permit Government employees and officials to report directly to Congress and to sue in federal court if their security clearances had been stripped as retaliation for whistleblowing.
