Sacred Hope Manager Admits $6.5M Medicare Fraud Conspiracy

Last week, DoJ announced the guilty plea of Lil Vargas-Arias, a Detroit-area healthcare professional, to conspiracy to falsify medical records, pay kickbacks to patients not referred by their primary physician, and fraudulently bill Medicare approximately $6,577,899 for unnecessary treatments and treatments that were never performed. Vargas-Arias was one of more than fifty individuals indicted in June in a Medicare Fraud roundup reported by FraudBlawg. She will be sentenced on Feb 11, 2010, and faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
